Oxford Spires Academy recently hosted its annual Careers Fair, a standout event that brought together students, employers, and inspiring professionals for a day filled with curiosity, ambition, and discovery.
Every student had the opportunity to attend a careers talk, followed by an engaging visit to the Careers Fair, where a wide range of employers shared insights into their industries and career paths. From law and healthcare to engineering, business, and the creative arts, there was something to spark the interest of every young mind.
The event was especially valuable for Year 9 students, who had the chance to connect with potential work experience providers ahead of their placements in Year 10. It was a great chance to start thinking seriously about future aspirations and the paths that can lead there.
Students approached the day with enthusiasm and maturity, asking thoughtful questions and showing genuine interest in the many stalls and speakers. The atmosphere was buzzing with ideas, inspiration, and the energy of students exploring who they might become.
Here’s what some of our wonderful visitors had to say:
“I wanted to share how impressed and inspired I was after attending the OSA Careers Fair yesterday. I had running one of the stands to talk to students about being lawyers, and I was fortunate to speak with many of your pupils from Years 7 through 10.”
“From the moment the children arrived in the hall, I was struck by their energy and curiosity. The students were fully engaged, asking thoughtful and insightful questions. Their enthusiasm was infectious.”
“The conversations I had with them made the experience truly memorable. They were so open in sharing their passions and interests. One student told me they play piano and dream of being in a band. Another shared how they play cricket with their sister when they visit Pakistan.”
“I heard about a love of art and business from a student who makes and sells handmade cards. Someone told me they’re part of the debating club. Another proudly mentioned that their sister is a lawyer."
“Many students shared their love of maths, science, English, netball, badminton, football, and basketball, and told me how much they enjoy spending time with their friends (and eating!). One child talked to me about his passion for jiu-jitsu.”
“A moment that best summed up the day was when a student asked me a question about criminal law that I didn’t know the answer to. I suggested they ask the lawyer at the CPS stand and to let me know the answer. A few minutes later, he came rushing back to explain the answer to me—a moment of shared learning for us!”
“You have some great children at your school. It was a joy to chat with them, answer their questions, and to learn a bit about their interests and passions. I left feeling incredibly lucky to have been part of the day.”
We are incredibly proud of our students—not just for their excellent behaviour, but for the way they represented themselves and their school with confidence, curiosity, and respect.
A huge thank you to all the employers and professionals who gave to support and inspire our students. We look forward to seeing where their ambitions take them next!
