We are excited to welcome all our students back for the start of the new academic year at Oxford Spires Academy. We hope everyone has had a restful summer and is ready for a positive and successful year ahead.
Our website has been fully updated and we encourage all families to check the year-group specific areas. These contain everything you need to prepare for the start of term, including guidance on uniform, equipment, and the timings of the school day.
Below is a reminder of when students are expected back in school:
On Wednesday 3rd September, we are delighted to welcome our new Year 7 students officially. Students should arrive in full school uniform by 9:00am.
For those who would like a “dry run” of the walk or bike ride to school, Year 7s are welcome to come in on Tuesday 2nd September between 8:30-9:30am. They do not need to wear school uniform on this day unless they want to. It will be a chance to meet the Year 7 pastoral team, familiarise themselves with the route to school, and collect their house pin badge.
There are no planned activities for Year 7 on Tuesday beyond this optional visit.
All other year groups return to normal timetables on Thursday 4th September.
The school gates will open at 8:00am, and students must be ready for their first lesson at 8:25am.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back and beginning another successful year together. Thank you, as always, for your support in ensuring students are fully prepared and ready to learn.
We are exceptionally proud of our Year 11 and Year 13 summer results and look forward to sharing and celebrating these with our whole school community.
Nationally, the percentage of students passing English and Maths has fallen slightly. At Oxford Spires we have increased the number of students passing both maths and English to 71% (69% in 2024 and the national average is 65%).
The percentage of pupil premium students passing 5+ has further increased by 7.9%.
This will be one of the highest in Oxfordshire and nationally.
Results in Sixth Form across all subjects were very impressive. In particular.....11A*s in A Level maths - 4A*s in further maths A Level is an exceptional achievement for all students in this group and the maths department.
